Grants
Lakewood Economic Development has a grant program for businesses located along Alameda, Colfax, and in the Jewell and Wadsworth area. The program provides financial and technical assistance for enhancement and redevelopment of properties in these areas.
The Business Grants are designed to augment the vitality of the corridor through improvement of the overall appearance of commercial properties. Architectural and design services for remodeling or redevelopment including facade and signage, design renderings, conceptual site planning and construction drawings are all eligible activities.
Eligible improvements can include:
Facade improvements
Landscaping improvements
Signage changes and improvements that reduce visual clutter in the corridor
Site furnishings such as trash receptacles, benches, bollards, tree grates, bike racks, bike lockers, newspaper racks and transit shelters
Public art
Public improvements such as curb, gutter, sidewalk, stormwater detention, and similar projects
HOW TO APPLY:
You must first contact Lakewood Economic Development before commencing work or applying for a grant in order to be considered. Lakewood Economic Development will determine the scope of the desired physical improvements and/or technical assistance required. The staff will provide all forms and further program details at that time.
