Parks provides for
park and grounds maintenance activities for over 1200
acres and 85 sites of City-owned formally developed
and undeveloped parkland.
LAKEWOOD
PARKS & GOLF COURSES
WILLIAM
FREDERICK HAYDEN PARK
William Frederick Hayden Park is the second largest
park in the City of Lakewood, covering approximately
2400 acres of open space. The park is open to all users
at no fee. It is located on the far Western edge
of the City of Lakewood at the edge of the foothills
between US 70 and Colorado C470.
The steep terrain includes a challenging system of multiple-use
trails and breathtaking views of the Metropolitan Denver
area and the dramatic Front Range of the Rocky Mountains
from the 6800-foot summit. Three peaks above 14,000
feet also are viewable. The park provides a unique venue
in an urban setting for many recreational opportunities,
including hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding,
and paragliding.
BEAR
CREEK LAKE PARK
Bear Creek Lake Park is the largest of Lakewood's more
than 80 parks at approximately 2600 acres. The park entrance is at 15600 West Morrison Road, a
quarter-mile east of the C-470 freeway near Morrison
and Red Rocks Park.
It is unique
as a city park since it offers multiple picnic sites;
camping; a large fishing lake, stocked regularly with
trout; horseback riding; many bike trails, both dirt
and paved; hiking trails; boating, swimming, and wind
surfing; and a water-skiing concession during the summer
months.
FOX
HOLLOW GOLF COURSE
The
Fox Hollow Golf Course is operated by the City of Lakewood
and is located at 13410 W. Morrison Road. Players arriving
on Interstate C470, east or west will take the Morrison
Road exit approximately 3.5 miles to the east. Those
players arriving on Kipling, north or south, will find
Fox Hollow 1/2 miles west of Kipling on Morrison Road,
on the south side of the street.
The
27-hole championship facility features three unique
9-hole courses. Each course, giving the golfer a different
look and challenge.
HOMESTEAD
GOLF COURSE
The Homestead is a unique golf course, a bridge between
a championship and an executive golf course, offering
several sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all skill
levels. The Homestead measures over 5,000 yards, a par
65 with an elevation change of over 200 feet on the
course. The links-style course features eight par 3's,
nine par 4's and one par 5.
The Homestead Golf Course was designed to resemble a
working cattle ranch, from the windmill to the cart
barn, rustic tee markers, pump house, and log fencing.
The Homestead Grill restaurant and a fully-stocked pro
shop offer first-class customer service. There is a
complete practice facility with a driving range, target
greens, putting greens and a practice sand trap.
GOLF
LESSONS
Both golf courses will be offering spring, summer and
fall lesson programs. These programs will include instruction
for all ages and abilities. These lessons are taught
by qualified PGA professionals and are available by
appointment.
Private
lessons are taught by qualified PGA professionals.
